Compared with the other months, June is a relatively quiet time of the year with less tourists. You can see the fireflies at the
gardens in Chinzan-so, close to Ikebukuro. Go there around 8pm for the best chances of viewing. You'll see the hydrangeas at many spots around town; the Meigetsuin Temple in Kamakura are among
the most famous places to view them. Festival lovers wouldn't want to miss the Tsukiji Shishi Matsuri, being held at a shrine adjacent to the Fish Market. There will be a parade of portable
shrines on the 13th. A Philadelphia Museum of Art collection of some Ukiyo-e wooden prints by Sharaku and other artists will be making a return home in a special exhibit to be held at the Mitsui
Museum, starting on June 20th and lasting unti August 16th.
